Plays a lawyer on her return – a role essayed by several actresses before
Aishwarya Rai is back and set to strike in an action-packed avatar. Playing a lawyer in Sanjay Gupta directed film ‘Jazbaa’, the actress knew that she wanted to do the film, the moment she heard the script.
"It was an instant yes, when I heard the script," she says.
Aishwarya plays a lawyer much later in her career, roles that have been reprised earlier by Kareena Kapoor in ‘Aitraaz’, her contemporary and rival Sushmita Sen in ‘Main Aisa Hi Hoon’, Sagarika Ghatge in ‘Fox’, Rani Mukherji in ‘Veer Zaara’, Rekha in ‘Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye’ and the legendary Nargis in ‘Awara’. Shruti Haasan played a lawyer recently in ‘Gabbar Is Back’.
"I am playing a lawyer for the first time in my career. I have got to learn the life of the lawyer. We tend to believe what we see in films. We have a certain idea of how a courtroom looks. But Sanjay (Gupta) kept it as real as he could. Those moments have drama and we stayed as true to what a courtroom drama looks like," she says.
Aishwarya Rai is all praises for the film as well. “The subject itself is fabulous, and the story speaks about lot of things on a lot of different levels. The film speaks the absolute language of one’s heart. Being thankful is an understatement because as an actor I was just so grateful,” says the actress.
Playing the double role of a mother and an actress again was no pressure for the actress taking care of her child Aaradhya and shooting for ‘Jazbaa’.
“Very honestly I haven’t felt it, I wasn’t making movies and a lot of ladies will agree and they will completely experience what I am going to right now. Being a working mother, we don’t have the concept of time and we don’t realise how times flies. Being a working mother I haven’t really not dealt with absence factor and focused on comeback term. There is no going and running away from it. It will forever be the comeback film and if you are talking about subjects and movies getting their due then it’s always the audience verdict. As far as I know I am very committed mother and very committed professional,” she signs off
